Sun Prairie West sweeps Madison West to finish Big Eight play
The Wolves took their Senior Night volleyball match in three sets and closed conference competition at 7-2.
Sun Prairie West completed Big Eight conference volleyball play with a three-set Senior Night win over Madison West on Oct. 7. The Wolves won 25-11, 25-9 and 25-8, finishing league play at 7-2.
Seniors set the pace from the opening set. Setter Bridget Drake distributed the ball to hitters Olivia Quinton and Kendyl Johnson, while Maliyah Jordan and Jillian Kessler contributed at the service line.
Ella Pieters delivered two blocks during a four-point stretch in the second set. Norah Quinton and Josie Peterson added kills, and West scored 11 straight points. A 13-3 start to the third set included contributions from Layla Mason and Melanie Wiemann.
Drake recorded a team-high 16 assists and five aces. Olivia Quinton and Johnson each had five kills, Jordan led with five digs, and Peterson and Pieters finished with two blocks apiece.
West entered its Oct. 10 Spartan Invite with a 14-11 overall record. Regional play in the WIAA tournament was scheduled to begin Oct. 22.
