The DeForest Norskies boys’ tennis team has kept plenty busy over the past few weeks, participating in a slew of matches.
Since Friday, April 10, the Norskies have already clocked in nine matches, where they sport a 5-4 overall record midway through the 2026 season.
Most recently, the Norskies hosted Beaver Dam at DeForest High School on Tuesday, April 21.
Interestingly enough, DeForest is no stranger to the Golden Beavers. The two inter-conference foes have already squared off against each other earlier this season in an invitational at Muwkonogao High School on Saturday, April 11. There, the Norskies won handily, 5-2.
Just 10 days later, DeForest won by an even larger margin, prevailing 6-1 over the Golden Beavers to etch victory No. 5 of the season.
Norskies’ No. 1 singles, Johnathan Wells, made quick work of his opponent, winning 6-1 and 6-0.
Wells, a junior, returns to the tennis courts this season after participating in the 2025 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Division 1 Individual Doubles Championship last spring. Wells and his partner, Hadley Jones (who has now graduated), even won a match at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium, too. The duo also secured a second-place finish at the 2025 Badger-Large Conference Championship, too.
After Wells quickly dispatched his opponent, Norskies’ No. 2 singles Christopher Sorenson won his matches by scores of 6-3 and 6-0, while DeForest’s No. 3 singles, Noah McDowell, also won by scores of 6-3 and 6-0.
The Norskies singles completed a clean sweep over Beaver Dam thanks to No. 4 singles Everett Meinen, who won both of his matches by scores of 6-4 and 6-1.
Heading over to doubles, the Norskies’ No. 1 tandem of William Sachtjen and Ben Anderson delivered a 6-2 victory before winning its second match 7-5.
DeForest’s No. 2 doubles duo of Dylan Schmidt and Miles Meinen delivered convincing victories by 6-2 and 6-1, before the Norskies dropped their final match in No. 3 doubles in a thriller.
Norskies’ No. 3 duo — Kellen Feiner and Sebastian Leale — dropped their first match 7-5, before winning a tiebreaker, 7-6 (5), before falling 10-2 in their third and final set.
Tuesday’s win over Beaver Dam was the second match in consecutive days for DeForest, who lost 5-2 to Watertown on Monday, April 20, at Brandt Quirk Park.
The two victories from DeForest came from its No. 1 and No. 2 singles tandem, Johnathan Wells and Chris Sorenson. Wells won his matches by scores of 6-2 and 6-0, while Sorenson won both of his matches by scores of 6-2 and 6-2.
Up next for the Norskies, DeForest will travel to Oregon in a conference dual on Thursday, April 23, at 4:15 p.m. On Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, DeForest will head to Waukesha West High School for an invitational to close out the week.
